NOVember/December Update

The first quarter of the school year has just flown by and we are on to November with the end of the semester soon at hand! Students have been working hard in the Music room and, as a result, most students are progressing very well in their musicianship. As you know, a Music Student’s main homework is to practice their instrument, and many have taken up the habit well; we even still have SmartMusic available for our students to help improve their practice habits! I am looking forward to presenting what the students have achieved thus far at our Winter Concert & Art Show on Wednesday, December 14th at 6pm in the FMS Gym. We also intend to bring back our Concert Dinner fundraiser for this concert! Please mark your calendars as a student missing this is like missing a final exam. Looking forward to seeing you there!
El primer trimestre del año escolar ha pasado volando y ya estamos en noviembre, con el final del semestre a la vista. Los estudiantes han estado trabajando duro en el aula de Música y, como resultado, la mayoría de los estudiantes están progresando muy bien en su musicalidad. Como sabéis, la principal tarea de un estudiante de Música es practicar su instrumento, y muchos han cogido bien el hábito; ¡incluso seguimos teniendo SmartMusic disponible para nuestros estudiantes para ayudarles a mejorar sus hábitos de práctica! Estoy deseando presentar lo que los estudiantes han logrado hasta ahora en nuestro Concierto de Invierno y Muestra de Arte el miércoles 14 de diciembre a las 6pm en el Gimnasio FMS. ¡También tenemos la intención de traer de vuelta nuestra cena de concierto para recaudar fondos para este concierto! Por favor, marquen sus calendarios ya que un estudiante que se pierda esto es como perder un examen final. ¡Esperamos verlos allí!

The Live Performance Review assignment is due the week before the end of the semester. Make time to watch a live performance in person or four (4) online (Youtube) to write up! Remember, it can always be turned in early!
La tarea de Revisión de Desempeño en Vivo vence la semana antes del final del semestre. ¡Haga tiempo para ver una presentación en vivo en persona o cuatro (4) en línea (YouTube) para escribir! Recuerda, ¡siempre se puede entregar temprano! 

Early in the school year, we elect Officers to help Mr. White with everyday tasks as well as representing our music students for decisions and ideas. This year our President is Sergio Robles, V.P. of Winds is Daisy Fuerte, V.P. of Strings is Sophie Gago, Clerk is Andrea Gamez, and Librarians are Yesenia Robles and Jimena Martinez!
A principios del año escolar, elegimos Oficiales de la Banda Sinfónica para ayudar al Sr. White con las tareas de todos los días, así como para representar a todos nuestros estudiantes de música para las decisiones e ideas. Este año nuestro presidente es Sergio Robles, la vicepresidenta de vientos es Daisy Fuerte, la vicepresidenta de cuerdas es Sophie Gago, la secretaria es Andrea Gámez y las Bibliotecarias son Yesenia Robles y Jimena Martínez.

Thank you for your quick response to our Band Polo Orders! It is great that so many of you also wanted to support the Music Program by purchasing an item for yourself! Speaking of, be on the lookout for our upcoming Nothing Bundt Cakes fundraiser from our Boosters in in just a couple of weeks! It’s important to continue to raise funds for the things happening and the things yet to come!

SYMPHONIC BAND
We already had a couple of performances this year and we are flying! Students interested in Honor Band need to be sure they are working on the material for the January Auditions. Basketball Pep Bands are coming up soon too; hope most of us will participate! 
BANDA SINFÓNICA
¡Ya hemos tenido un par de actuaciones este año y estamos volando! Los estudiantes interesados en la Banda de Honor necesitan estar seguros de que están trabajando en el material para las audiciones de enero. Las Pep Bands de baloncesto también se acercan pronto; ¡espero que la mayoría de nosotros participe!

CONCERT BAND
We have been rapidly building skills and learning more about the music language so make sure to review terms in your practice as well as your instrument technique.

BEGINNING BAND / PERCUSSION
Work on your endurance and music reading with consistent practice. Be sure to use the skills learned from your section coaches and build up your techniques!
BANDA INICIAL / PERCUSIÓN
Trabaja tu resistencia y tu lectura musical con una práctica constante. Asegúrate de utilizar las habilidades aprendidas de tus entrenadores de sección y de fortalecer tus técnicas.

STRINGS
Good Bow Technique is the key to finishing the semester strong! Matching the left hand skills with the right hand skills takes a lot of practice and repetition so keep at it!
INSTRUMENTOS DE CUERDA
Una buena técnica de arco es la clave para terminar el semestre con fuerza. Para combinar las habilidades de la mano izquierda con las de la mano derecha se necesita mucha práctica y repetición, ¡así que sigue haciéndolo!
