FMS Music: Nov./Dec. Update

It is great to be back to live instruction and rehearsal and the students have responded in kind! Even with a bit of a slower start, most students are progressing very well in their musicianship! As you know, a Music Student’s main homework is to practice their instrument and many have taken up the habit well; we even still have SmartMusic available for our students to help improve their practice habits! I am looking forward to presenting what the students have achieved thus far at our Winter Concert & Art Show on Wednesday, December 8th at 6pm! Until further notice, the concert will be live in the Gym, and we ask all guests and performers to be masked for the duration of the event. Please mark your calendars because missing this for a student is like missing a final exam! For those not able to make it, it will be livestreamed as well; make sure you tune in!
¡Es genial volver a la instrucción en vivo y al ensayo y los estudiantes han respondido de la misma manera! Incluso con un comienzo un poco más medido debido a los nuevos protocolos, ¡la mayoría de los estudiantes están progresando muy bien en su musicalidad! Como saben, la tarea principal de un estudiante de música es practicar su instrumento, y muchos han adoptado bien el hábito; incluso todavía estamos usando SmartMusic para que nuestros estudiantes ayuden a mejorar sus hábitos de práctica, ¡así que debería verlos usarlo en casa! ¡Estoy deseando presentar lo que los estudiantes han logrado hasta ahora en nuestro Concierto de Invierno y Espectáculo de Arte el Miércoles 8de Diciembre a las 6pm! Hasta nuevo aviso, el concierto será en vivo en el Gimnasio, y pedimos a todos los invitados y artistas que estén enmascarados durante la duración del evento. ¡Marque sus calendarios porque perderse esto para un estudiante es como perderse un examen final! Para aquellos que no puedan hacerlo, también se transmitirá en vivo; ¡asegúrate de sintonizar!

The Live Performance Review assignment is due the week before the end of the semester. Make time to watch a live performance in person or four (4) online (Youtube) to write up! Remember, it can always be turned in early!
La tarea de Revisión de Desempeño en Vivo vence la semana antes del final del semestre. ¡Haga tiempo para ver una presentación en vivo en persona o cuatro (4) en línea (YouTube) para escribir! Recuerda, ¡siempre se puede entregar temprano! 

Early in the school year, we elect Officers to help Mr. White with everyday tasks as well as representing our music students for decisions and ideas. This year our President is Valeria Topete, V.P. is Jessica Aparicio, Clerk is Daisy Fuerte, and Librarian is Yahir Martinez! Congratulations!
 A principios del año escolar, elegimos Oficiales de la Banda Sinfónica para ayudar al Sr. White con las tareas de todos los días, así como para representar a todos nuestros estudiantes de música para las decisiones e ideas. Este año nuestra Presidenta es Valeria Topete, V.P. es Jessica Aparicio, Oficinista es Daisy Fuerte, y la Bibliotecaria es Yahir Martinez! ¡Felicidades!

Thank you for your quick response to our Band Polo Orders! It is great that so many of you also wanted to support the Music Program by purchasing an item of yourself! Speaking of, be on the lookout for our upcoming Nothing Bundt Cakes fundraiser from our Boosters in November! It’s important to continue to raise funds for the things happening and the things yet to come!
¡También tenemos una nueva Junta Ejecutiva para los FMS Musica Boosters! Están entusiasmados de continuar recaudando fondos para las cosas que suceden y las cosas por venir y es genial de ellos entrar en un papel de liderazgo. Estarán en contacto, así que busque nuestra próxima recaudación de fondos Nothing Bundt Cakes de nuestros Musica Boosters en Noviembre.

SYMPHONIC BAND
Like other subjects, we have had to spend a lot of time catching students up with what they missed at the end of last school year while pressing forward as best we can with this year’s curriculum. We just got to perform with the FHS Flashes Regiment which is always a great experience and are starting concert material! 
Al igual que otras asignaturas, hemos tenido que pasar mucho tiempo poniéndonos al día con los estudiantes con lo que se perdieron al final del año escolar pasado mientras seguimos adelante lo mejor que podemos con el plan de estudios de este año. ¡Acabamos de actuar con el FHS Flashes Regimiento que siempre es una gran experiencia y estamos comenzando el material del concierto!  
CONCERT BAND
We also just performed with the Flashes Regiment and in class are quickly making our way through our method book and starting our concert music. Remember to keep up with your performance test material as well as it will be helpful to your performances! Keep up with your good practicing habits whether at home or in the Music Room!
También acabamos de actuar con el Regimiento flashes y en clase estamos rápidamente haciendo nuestro camino a través de nuestro libro de métodos y comenzando nuestra música de concierto. ¡Recuerde mantenerse al día con su material de prueba de rendimiento, así como será útil para su rendimiento! ¡Mantiene con tus buenos hábitos de práctica ya sea en casa o en la Sala de Música! 
BEGINNING BAND / PERCUSSION
We are making great progress through this part of the year! Continue to work on music reading and endurance with consistent practice! 
¡Estamos haciendo grandes progresos en esta parte del año! ¡Continúe con la lectura de música y la resistencia con una práctica constante! 
STRINGS
Good Bow Technique and Finger Position are the key to finishing the semester strong! We have a strong class this year and should have great tunes to share at the Concert. 
​​¡Una buena técnica de arco y la posición de los dedos son la clave para terminar el semestre fuerte! Tenemos una clase fuerte este año y deberíamos tener grandes melodías para compartir en el Concierto.
